Walls and Ceilings Contractors Step Up To The Tee For Roger'S House
In September 2005 the Walls and Ceilings Contractors Association ran their first ever fund raising golf event in order to contribute to the steel stud and drywall construction at Roger's House. The WACCA golf day had been run for many years by member Jack Donovan for contactor members and many of the industry suppliers but had been a social event rather than a fund raiser. When asked to help with the labour to install interior finishes for the care centre, Jack came up with the idea of converting our annual tournament for 2005 to help with this effort. He approached member Albert Lefebvre to chair the tournament and together with Domenico Filoso and Don Sutherland, a committee was formed to move forward.
WACCA contractor members all agreed to make major pledges to the tournament and when approached, the industry suppliers all stepped up in a major way. Many of these firms contributed large amounts with the average contactor contribution being in the neighbourhood of $3000.00. The golf day was fully sponsored and sold out and in spite of a very rainy golf day in September the result was an amazing $106,000.00 for Roger's House.
